The CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines group deeply regrets the fatal accident of flight 302 of March 10, on a planned flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The group GM who is on the scene of the accident at the moment is sad to confirm that there are no survivors. He expresses his deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew members who lost their lives in this tragic accident. Ethiopian Airlines will post additional information as soon as it becomes available.<\/p>\n

At a press conference held this afternoon at Ethiopian Airlines headquarters about a company plane that crashed today, March 10, 2019, shortly after takeoff in road to Nairobi from Addis Ababa, the director general of Ethiopian Airlines, who visited the scene of the accident, said: “it is too early to speculate on the cause of the accident and further investigations will be conducted to determine the reasons for the accident in collaboration with all stakeholders, including the aircraft manufacturer Boeing, the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and other international entities, in order to meet international standards.<\/p>\n

The information will be provided once the cause is identified. Ethiopian Airlines will provide all the necessary support to the families of the victims. It was Captain Yared Getachew who was flying. He had more than 8000 flying hours with very good performances. He was accompanied by First Officer Ahmed Nur Mohammod Nur, who had 200 flying hours. 149 passengers and 8 crew members were on board the flight. The victims were 35 nationalities. The crashed plane B-737-800MAX had returned to Addis from Johannesburg this morning. Another flight to Nairobi was subjected to a first rigorous maintenance check on 4 February 2019.<\/p>\n
