The unfortunate candidate in the presidential election of August 2016, Jean Ping, addressed Saturday from his residence in Libreville, through a speech to the nation. Cantoned under house arrest for several months; he proclaimed himself the winner of the last presidential election and invited the Gabonese to mobilize.<\/p>\n

Without commenting on the news Gabon strongly tainted by the news of hospitalization on October 24 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, President Ali Bongo Ondimba, the President of the High Council of the Resistance (UNHCR-Opposition) and unfortunate candidate of the Presidential election of August 31, 2016, mainly said Saturday at his home that “For several months, I have voluntarily observed a duty of silence. Recent events force me to speak. At a time when our country is experiencing the worst turbulence in its history, the best interests of our country, the need to preserve above all, its people from a programmed drama, take me, as President of the Republic elected, to address today to all the Gabonese and to the Gabonese (…) of our Diaspora around the world “.<\/p>\n

He immediately said: “I want to speak to Gabonese and Gabonese of all kinds, majority and opposition, civil society, believers and atheists. I respect all those who have freely chosen to live in our country with their convictions by following the laws and regulations of the Republic.<\/p>\n

To bring peace widely across the country, he considers that “there are times in the life of a country where all children of the same nation must transcend their divides, place the nation above our special interests, ethnic and clan. “As I emphasized from the beginning in my project of society, paraphrasing the academic philosopher Chantal Delsol that I quote again,” all peace is forgetful by necessity, (…) because it is negotiated between enemies of yesterday and brothers of tomorrow (…) because we can not build together the future of a nation by overhauling hatreds and crimes. (…). That’s why I invite you today to the gathering of all. The time has come to put ourselves together to heal our wounds in order to build “the new building we all dream of” and give the Gabonese lasting hope, “he said.<\/p>\n

Finally, the former Chairperson of the African Union Commission said that he, as elected President of the Gabonese people, was invited to this construction without fear, hatred and revenge.<\/p>\n

“My legitimacy comes from your choice. I say that because what must prevail today is the expression of the popular will. The voice of the people is the voice of God! Gabon is now facing its destiny. The resistance we have established for a little over two years has demonstrated to the world that the march towards freedom and true democracy is not a long calm river. But you knew how to carry the flame of liberation. This long-awaited release is not one camp against another, it is simply the liberation of our country from everyone, “he concluded.<\/p>\n
