{"id":461887,"date":"2018-08-20T10:48:57","date_gmt":"2018-08-20T09:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.financialafrik.com\/?p=461887"},"modified":"2018-08-20T10:48:57","modified_gmt":"2018-08-20T09:48:57","slug":"forum-aims-to-put-senegal-on-africas-local-content-map","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2018\/08\/20\/forum-aims-to-put-senegal-on-africas-local-content-map\/","title":{"rendered":"Forum aims to put Senegal on Africa\u2019s local content map"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p>The African Energy Chamber (AEC) is organizing a forum on local content development in Senegal on September 13<sup>th<\/sup>, 2018, in Dakar\u2019s King Fahd Palace.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Organized in partnership with <em>Les Conf\u00e9rences du Quotidien<\/em>, the forum will be presided by Mahammad Boun Abdallah Dionne, Prime Minister of Senegal and will gather the key stakeholders of Senegal\u2019s hydrocarbons value chain, including the heads of COS-Petrogaz and Petrosen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of pan-African energy legal and advisory firm Centurion, the forum will be formulating recommendations on the best strategies to regulate and support the development of a strong Senegalese content.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Says NJ Ayuk, CEO of Centurion and Executive Chairman of the AEC,<em> \u201c<\/em>As Senegal gets closer to its first flow of oil and gas by 2021, it is important to look at local content experiences in Africa and internationally and draw the necessary lessons for Senegal to be the new frontrunner of African content<em>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hydrocarbons discoveries in Senegal are giving the west African nation an opportunity to position itself as a competitive oil &amp; gas frontier on the continent and set new standards for hydrocarbons governance in Africa and globally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Given the country\u2019s limited experience in hydrocarbons however, the development of Senegal\u2019s oil and gas value chain will need to rely on foreign capital and technology.
