{"id":461733,"date":"2018-08-03T12:55:38","date_gmt":"2018-08-03T11:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.financialafrik.com\/?p=461733"},"modified":"2018-08-03T12:55:38","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T11:55:38","slug":"ecowas-and-eccas-heads-of-state-adopt-lome-declaration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2018\/08\/03\/ecowas-and-eccas-heads-of-state-adopt-lome-declaration\/","title":{"rendered":"ECOWAS and ECCAS Heads of State Adopt Lome Declaration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p><strong>The Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) adopted Monday, July 30, the Lom\u00e9 Declaration on Peace , security, stability and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in their spaces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is, in fact, the 8th point of the final communiqu\u00e9 adopted at the end of this summit initiated by Togolese President Faure Gnassingb\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Heads of State and Government discussed the general security situation in West and Central Africa and noted the risks created by the mounting security challenges, particularly with regard to terrorism, weapons, human beings and drugs, money laundering and cybercrime &#8220;, according to the text read by the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Robert Dussey.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, they stressed the need for a more reinforced and effective cooperation between the two communities, &#8220;in order to better face, together, the security challenges&#8221;, before calling their respective states, the African Union and &#8220;the all of the international community to support the implementation of the decisions adopted &#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the two delegations pledged themselves to cooperate in, it is said, to prevent conflicts promoting peace and stability in their regions &#8220;through, inter alia, the establishment and strengthening, at national and regional levels, early warning and rapid response to crises.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that these two organizations have decided to meet every two years to take stock of the implementation of the commitments of the Lom\u00e9 Declaration.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) adopted Monday, July 30, the Lom\u00e9 Declaration on Peace , security, stability and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in their spaces.
