The British Nordgold presented this Monday, July 23, 2018 in London, its report on the Lefa mine it acquired in Guinea in 2010.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the company which, through its subsidiary, the mining company of Dinguiraye (SMD), remains one of the main gold producers of the country, has invested almost 1 billion dollars in Guinea, including the investments in the development of the mine, taxes and the implementation of support programs for local communities.<\/p>\n

She also presented her report on the progress of her exploration program for the mine, which aims to renew and increase gold resources. It is expected, among others, the drilling of some 85 km in 2018. The current program, according to officials of the multinational, follows the success of the previous year when almost 700 thousand ounces of gold were added to the resources of the mine.<\/p>\n

In addition, four new satellite deposits were discovered in 2017: Kassa-Kassa, Fayalala North, Kankarta West and Telire. Geophysical and structural studies have been conducted for Lefa to conduct an effective exploration program.<\/p>\n

Lefa’s active exploration program is now focused on five major axes, according to company officials: add at least 200,000 ounces of gold to existing pits near Lefa crushing equipment, confirm and convert the resources of the Sikasso and Banora West satellite deposits, confirm the extension of the Gold Ring ore located in the license of Sikasso, an area neighboring the Lefa license, discover new oxides on the prospect zones at near Lefa, and perform the second phase of the interpretation of the geological structure in order to define new exploration targets.<\/p>\n

According to Nordgold’s Director of Mineral Resources, “Lefa’s consecutive way of renewing and increasing its resources further confirms its quality and its important role in Nordgold’s business. The results of the annual exploration program are proof of the expertise of the geological team of the mine, its know-how to carry out every year a major exploration “.<\/p>\n

The Lefa Mine in Guinea is one of 9 gold mines operated by Nordgold worldwide with an estimated international production of 968,300 ounces of gold in 2017.<\/p>\n
