The African Banker Trophy Jury announces the list of nominees for 2018. It reflects another solid year in the African banking sector, driven by innovation and the resilience of the markets. The nominees for the African Banker 2018 Trophies have been selected Jury members of the Panafrican Financial Magazine jury. This year’s finalists list includes banks from Morocco, Nigeria and Kenya that have a large footprint across the continent, Ecobank, Standard Bank and Standard Chartered are present in several categories.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony, organized by African Banker Magazine, will be held at the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings from 21 to 25 May 2018 in Busan, South Korea. The lucky winners selected by an independent jury of bankers, financiers and business leaders will be announced at the African Banker Awards ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, May 22nd.<\/p>\n

Omar Ben Yedder, editor and managing director of the IC Publications Group, which publishes African Banker, recalled the quality of the applications received this year. “McKinsey has published a very positive report on the banking sector in Africa which confirms that the banking market in the continent is among the most promising in the world. The number of applications has been very high, which shows a growing competitiveness among financial institutions. There was an influx of applications in all categories. Innovation is the key word among bankers. This year’s entries reflect the transformative role of fintech and blockchain technology as well as mobile banking. The very high quality of the applications and the sophistication of the solutions presented reflect a robust sector in full evolution. ”<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony is organized under the patronage of the African Development Bank. It is sponsored by African Guarantee Fund, Banco Nacional de Investimento (BNI), Cr\u00e9dit Agricole Group of Morocco and Bank of Industry. The Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony will take place at the Paradise Hotel in Busan. The welcome cocktail will be offered as every year by Ecobank.<\/p>\n
