On Monday, the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Ms. Micha\u00eblle Jean, received the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, at the headquarters of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). The two senior officials were able to address the major issues of the day that are shaking up and mobilizing the Francophone space as well as the priority areas for increased cooperation between Canada and La Francophonie.<\/p>\n

“Canada’s support is very important,” said Micha\u00eblle Jean at the end of their meeting, “because it allows us to vigorously pursue our action for this pragmatic and concrete” Francophonie of solutions “that we have been developing for more than three years.” .<\/p>\n

“I am very happy to come see in person the excellent work of the OIF and the Francophonie as a whole under the leadership of its Secretary General,” said Justin Trudeau, who also welcomes the measures implemented by the Organization with the aim of improving and modernizing its administrative practices for greater efficiency.<\/p>\n

The Secretary-General, while recalling that transparency has been practiced for a long time at the OIF, has kept the Canadian Prime Minister aware of the mechanisms in place in this area, such as the strengthening of the team of internal auditors, the publication regular reports from the external auditors and the recent Chairman’s eulogy report describing the practices of the Organization as exemplary. Finally, Micha\u00eblle Jean announces that a code of transparency will soon be proposed to the member states and governments of La Francophonie.<\/p>\n

The Canadian Prime Minister also invited other member countries to renew their confidence in the Secretary General at the next Francophonie Summit in Yerevan, Armenia, next October, so that she can continue and consolidate “the excellent work”. since taking office in January 2015.<\/p>\n
