The Amadeus Institute, independent Moroccan think tank, catalyst of debates strongly involved in the African problems, continues its initiative of reflection and exchanges in perspective of the accession of the Kingdom of Morocco to the ECOWAS, after a first conference in Dakar, March 29th.<\/p>\n

In partnership with the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) and with the collaboration of the Ivoirian Center for Economic and Social Research (CIRES), the Amadeus Institute organizes on April 20 in Abidjan a conference under the theme “Morocco in ECOWAS : Enlargement or deepening? ”<\/p>\n

“C\u00f4te d’Ivoire has recently become the leading destination for Moroccan investment in Africa,” says Brahim Fassi Fihri, founding president of the Amadeus Institute. “In addition, C\u00f4te d’Ivoire is a pivotal country in the West Africa subregion and one of the drivers of regional integration,” he continues. It seemed natural and necessary to listen to the vital forces of this country as Morocco prepares its accession to ECOWAS.<\/p>\n

The objective of the Abidjan conference is to bring together political leaders, economic operators, academics and civil society actors from the Ivory Coast and Morocco in the framework of a respective and attentive listening and a frank and open dialogue. This approach was reinforced by the strong presence and the quality of the exchanges during the first conference of Dakar, which gathered about forty decision-makers and experts of the two countries and allowed the creation of a Senegalese Joint and Parity Committee. Moroccan monitoring of Morocco’s accession to ECOWAS.<\/p>\n

This second stage of the explanatory conferences around the accession of Morocco to ECOWAS aims to deepen the debate while expanding it. His work will provide a better understanding of the issues and positions on both sides.<\/p>\n
