The Secretary General of La Francophonie Micha\u00eblle Jean is proud to announce the appointment of Ambassador Herv\u00e9 Ladsous as Special Advisor in his office.<\/p>\n

The French diplomat has been UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations from September 2011 until 2017 and Ambassador of France in many capitals. Since 2014, he has been one of the top personalities involved in the political missions of La Francophonie, particularly as Deputy Chief of Mission for monitoring the electoral process in Madagascar.<\/p>\n

“I am very honored, touched and pleased by the decision of the Secretary General of La Francophonie to call me to her side as Special Adviser,” said Mr. Ladsous. Francophonie is first and foremost a set of shared values \u200b\u200band ideals that the world needs more than ever, but also an organization geared towards action. In this era of globalization and standardization, of growing unilateralism, and challenges of all kinds to the principles governing the functioning of the international community, it is singularly useful and even necessary to recall and demonstrate by example the virtues of diversity, including linguistically, the need for multilateralism and, above all, the mobilization of all to respond effectively to the threats to the world order.<\/p>\n

It is from this conviction that, throughout my career as a diplomat and international civil servant, I have tried to help identify and implement the best ways to respond to these challenges. I therefore feel a real enthusiasm at the prospect of being able to continue this beautiful fight, alongside Micha\u00eblle Jean and all the OIF staff. ”<\/p>\n

For the Secretary General of La Francophonie Micha\u00eblle Jean, “The partnership between the OIF and the UN is very much due to the work carried out closely, in perfect harmony and complementarity by the two organizations on difficult issues of prevention, management and crisis resolution. , and especially peacekeeping in several countries of the French-speaking world. I was able to develop with Herv\u00e9 Ladsous, while he was the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, a relationship of great confidence, allowing us to share our appreciation of situations and issues that are often very complex to resolve. . Upon his retirement from the United Nations, fervent values \u200b\u200bthat found the Francophonie and its struggles, Herv\u00e9 Ladsous continued to bring, at my request, his assistance and his great experience to OIF missions in the field . In the same way he accepts today to be my special adviser. ”<\/p>\n

In May, Ambassador Ladsous will succeed Canadian Ambassador Jacques Bilodeau, who will complete a long and distinguished diplomatic career dedicated to the Francophonie.<\/p>\n
