On an official visit to Abidjan, Makhtar Diop, the institution&#8217;s vice president for Africa, made the announcement on 22 March to Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara during a hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The institution will release $ 200 million to support a project in the cashew sector and $ 300 million in funding for the cocoa sector.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Makhtar Diop announced that the World Bank Group will make $ 1 billion available to the country by June to support its development efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Another subject discussed is the interconnection of electricity grids in the West African sub-region of which C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire is a central player and for which the institution intends to lend its support.<\/p>\n<p>During his stay in Ivory Coast, Makhtar Diop will visit INPHB, the Houphou\u00ebt-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute in Yamoussoukro, a higher education institution whose World Bank wants to reinforce the international reference status for high-level training of young Africans.<\/p>\n<p>It will also launch the &#8220;Sports for Development&#8221; initiative, as the institution is committed to integrating sport into some of its programs in the country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The World Bank will disburse $ 1.5 billion for C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire.
