{"id":457867,"date":"2018-02-06T11:37:56","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T11:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/?p=457867"},"modified":"2018-02-06T11:37:56","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T11:37:56","slug":"240000-passengers-in-addition-to-abidjan-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2018\/02\/06\/240000-passengers-in-addition-to-abidjan-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"240,000 passengers in addition to Abidjan airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p>The international airport Felix Houphouet-Boigny (AERIA) reached a new milestone with 2.07 million passengers in 2017, 241,000 more than in 2016 when it hosted 1.829 million.<\/p>\n<p>And in light of the 1.3 million registered in 2014, Abidjan making great strides towards its goal to rise to the rank of sub regional airport hub.\u00a0This performance is the result of structuring investments on the airport to raise the quality of its services, but especially the growing attraction of the Ivorian destination and development of the national carrier Air C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the return including Tap Air Portugal last year, Air France, Corsair and RAM (Royal Air Morocco) have strengthened their links to the country.\u00a0And the national company that serves more than twenty African cities transits alone 800,000 passengers, a little over 38% of airport traffic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is thanks to airlines practicing on the airport and especially Air C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire that we have achieved this outstanding performance,&#8221; praised Darriau Gilles, CEO of AERIA, during a ceremony on 2 February.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Carbon Neutrality&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to these results, the airport has been awarded certification &#8220;Carbon Neutrality&#8221; which demonstrates its commitment to reduce and offset its carbon footprint.\u00a0This is a first for an African airport Abidjan and becomes the 30th airport in the world to receive such certification.\u00a0A distinction worth it to host the year-end conference of African airports.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, by 2022, the airport of Abidjan aims to accommodate 5 million passengers.\u00a0To get the extension works are underway for an investment of 42 billion FCFA.\u00a0And the expected launch this May 10 the direct line to the United States will actively contribute to this ambition.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The international airport Felix Houphouet-Boigny (AERIA) reached a new milestone with 2.07 million passengers in 2017, 241,000 more than in 2016 when it hosted 1.829 million.
