{"id":457677,"date":"2018-02-01T12:26:42","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T12:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/?p=457677"},"modified":"2018-02-01T12:26:42","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T12:26:42","slug":"guinea-bissau-appointment-of-a-new-prime-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2018\/02\/01\/guinea-bissau-appointment-of-a-new-prime-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Guinea-Bissau: appointment of a new Prime Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p>The President of the Republic, Jose Mario Vaz Tuesday named 30 January August Antonio Artur Silva as new Prime Minister by presidential decree.<\/p>\n<p>The head of state said in the decree that the appointment of Mr. Silva will end the political crisis that has raged in the country for more than two years.<\/p>\n<p>According to the document, the appointment of Mr. Silva results from a hearing made to political parties.<\/p>\n<p>Augusto Antonio Artur Silva is a senior leader of the African Independence Party of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Silva has held several ministerial positions, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Minister of Fisheries and the Minister of National Education.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As a reminder, the former prime minister of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoko Embalo, presented the 12 January in the evening evening his resignation to President Vaz because of &#8220;the absence of conditions to continue to perform his duties&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The political crisis in Guinea-Bissau is due to the sacking, in 2015, by the president Vaz of the government of the PAIGC resulting from the elections held a year earlier.
