{"id":480553,"date":"2024-12-03T17:25:59","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T17:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kapitalafrik.com\/?post_type=event_listing&#038;p=480553"},"modified":"2024-12-03T17:29:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T17:29:28","slug":"abidjan-the-apsgi-meetings","status":"publish","type":"event_listing","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/event\/abidjan-the-apsgi-meetings\/","title":{"rendered":"Abidjan: The APSGI Meetings!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The creation of a <strong>Regional Financial Market (RFM)<\/strong> was outlined in the revised <strong>Treaty of November 14, 1973<\/strong>, establishing the <strong>West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)<\/strong>, which includes eight (8) countries: <strong>Benin<\/strong>, <strong>Burkina Faso<\/strong>, <strong>C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire<\/strong>, <strong>Guinea-Bissau<\/strong>, <strong>Mali<\/strong>, <strong>Niger<\/strong>, <strong>Senegal<\/strong>, and <strong>Togo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objectives of this market are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diversify the financial sector,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mobilize long-term resources necessary for financing production and investment,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And foster regional integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Twenty-six (26) years after the first transactions began, the <strong>RFM<\/strong> has raised over <strong>17,951 billion CFA francs<\/strong> through bond issues and public equity offers (as of December 31, 2022). Despite these achievements, major challenges remain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Limited diversification compared to the size of WAEMU\u2019s economies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low popular shareholder participation and underdeveloped stock market culture,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Limited tradable instruments,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low public awareness (fewer than <strong>200,000 active securities accounts<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To address these challenges, it is essential to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expand the range of tradable instruments,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase individual participation through greater financial inclusion,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop all potential sources to support the listing of the <strong>BRVM<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Event: &#8220;Les Rendez-Vous de l&#8217;APSGI!&#8221;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to this context, the <strong>Professional Association of Brokerage Firms in WAEMU (APSGI-UEMOA)<\/strong> proposes to organize a promotional event for the <strong>Regional Financial Market<\/strong>, titled: <strong>&#8220;Les Rendez-Vous de l\u2019APSGI!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dates<\/strong>: December 12-13, 2024<br><strong>Location<\/strong>: <strong>CGECI Plateau, Abidjan, C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire<\/strong><br><strong>Theme<\/strong>: <strong>&#8220;With the Stock Exchange, Invest Today for a Better Tomorrow&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Objectives of the Event<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives of the event are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Raise awareness among economic actors, national and international investors, and the general public about the opportunities within the <strong>WAEMU Regional Financial Market<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen the visibility of <strong>APSGI-UEMOA<\/strong>, confirming its role as a key player in the regional financial sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote exchanges, partnerships, and investments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Event Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The second edition of this event will be held under the theme:<br><strong>\u201cSignificant Contributions of the Regional Financial Market to the Development of WAEMU: What Deep Transformations and Structuring Innovations Can Be Implemented?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given its regional nature, the event will be organized in two parts:<br><strong>1. A decentralized forum<\/strong>: This will take place over a 3-week period across all WAEMU countries, except <strong>Guinea-Bissau<\/strong>, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Local RFM fairs<\/strong>, showcasing local SGIs and available financial opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.
